First time applicants
Applications for a work and residence permit from first time applicants
First time applicants are to apply from their home country or from another country in which the applicant has been staying legally for the last 3 months. This is a principal rule.
Applications (application form in English FO1, Danish version FO1) should be submitted to the Danish Embassy or Consulate in the relevant country or sent to the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration.
Documents to be included:
1) A job offer of minimum 40 hours per week, documented in a signed contract between the employer and the employee. The contract must also certify other job conditions in accordance with Løgtingslóg nr. 20 frá 08.05.2008
2) copy of the applicant´s passport,
3) copy of the applicant´s authorization (if the job in question requires authorization).
The main rule is that first time applicants cannot hand in their applications in the Faroe Islands while staying here with a travel visa. However, under certain circumstances applicants may be allowed to submit applications to the local police. The Police then forwards the papers to the Danish immigration authorities, who subsequently decide whether the case is to be refused or can be accepted for casehandling.
