Spouses or cohabiting partners

Other conditions for being granted family reunification
The couple must have been living together in a marital relationship as spouses or cohabiting partners for a certain length of time (approx. 1½ - 2 years).
 
If the authorities have reasons to believe the purpose of the marriage or cohabiting partnership has merely been entered into in order to achieve a residence permit for a foreign national (pro forma), a permit will not be granted.
 
Requirements for full support of the applicant (spouses):  
If the resident, with whom the applicant wants to be unified, is not a Danish or Nordic citizen, the authorities normally require that the resident in question is able to fully support the applicant.
 
Requirements for full support of the applicant (cohabiting partners):  
If the resident, with whom the applicant wants to be unified, is not a Danish or Nordic citizen, the authorities normally require that the resident in question is able to fully support the applicant and will as a principal rule be requested to prove it .

Requirements for housing:
The resident, with whom the applicant wants to be unified, will as a principal rule be asked to prove he has accommodation of adequate size at his/her disposal.  
 
Requirements for attachment:
If the resident, with whom the applicant wants to be unified, is not a Danish or Nordic citizen, the combined attachment to the Faroe Islands must not be less than the combined attachment to another country.
